"Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace:
whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen."
--1 Peter 4: 9-11

Ms. Consuelo Gomez
Secretary/Bookkeeper

A native of Cali, colombia, I am the youngest of then siblings, with three brothers and six sisters. I came to the United States during my teens and settled in New York, where I studied English, Business Management & Computer Programming at Mercy College, and Lehman College, both in New York City.

I have been blessed with three children, Cristi, David and Anthony. In 1995, we moved to Connecticut. In 2005, I started working part-time at the Office for Hispanic Evangelization in Bloomfield, now known as the Office for Hispanic Ministry and directed by Father Jose A. Mercado, where I helped in organizing retreats, workshops, and other spiritual events.

In 2008, I started working part-time at St. Anne-Immaculate Conception Church, as Office Manager and secretary while Father Zacharias Pushpanathan was the Pastor. In 2012, when Father Mercado was assigned Pastor of St. Anne-Immaculate Conception, I started working full-time as a secretary for both St. Augustine and St. Anne-Immaculate Conception, serving diverse communities from all over the world.

In all my duties, I have found God's loving presence in the way that serving others enriches one's own life. Through having that opportunity, by extending to our parishioners kindness, generosity, and respect, helps me maintain that same loving presence. To my extended family, I say a warm-hearted and loving "thank you" for blessing my life, and giving me that opportunity to serve you.

I have served as the Director of Religious Education at Saint Augustine Church for the past 10 years.  I have a Master's Degree in Management from Cambridge College and I work full time at Hartford Healthcare in Hartford.  I have a passion for teaching our youth what it is to be a Catholic today and how they can use the lessons taught in our Religious Education program in their daily life.

I am married to Juan Ayala and have two daughters: Rosaura (Rosie) and Ashley.  When I moved to the neighborhood almost 28 years ago, I was approached by the Director of Religious Education at the time to teach our Confirmation Class.  I didn't hesitate to answer this call from the Lord and I have been involved in the Religious Education program ever since.  I taught Confirmation class for 5 years before accepting the position to serve as the Director of Religious Education at Saint Augustine Church, Hartford.  In my role as Director I work closely with the Archdiocesan Office of Religious Education and Evangelization and the Office for Hispanic Ministries to provide retreats for our Youth and to ensure our catechists and children receive the most up to date catechetical programs available.
