As we bid a fond farewell, with gratitude, to Mr. Agustin Muriago who is pursuing his passion for teaching, we welcome Ms. Veronica O'Brien as our new director of music at Saint Augustine Church.
As a pianist, Veronica has played in Steinway Hall in New York and has given her talents back to the community in various church concerts in Passaic, NJ, library performances, and in a benefit concert for the victims of Hurricane Sandy in Park Ridge, NJ, which she participated in organizing. Also an enthusiastic choral singer, Veronica has sung with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra for three separate programs as a member of the Montclair State University Chorale, several of which were broadcasted on NPR, and as a member of the University Singers, she had the opportunity to sing in Carnegie Hall, Rachmaninov Hall in the Moscow Conservatory, and several performances in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Veronica was the music director at Most Holy Name Catholic Church in Garfield, NJ where she directed the English choir and played for services. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Piano Performance with a Pedagogy Emphasis at The Hartt School in West Hartford, CT where she studies with Dr. David Westfall. Veronica received her Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from Montclair State University where she studied with Dr. Ruth Rendleman. Her other teachers have included John Bloomfield, chair of the Golandsky Institute, and three time Grammy nominated pianist Dr. Allison Brewster Franzetti. In her free time, Veronica enjoys hiking, kayaking, reading and photographing nature.
Welcome Veronica to Saint Augustine Church, Hartford!
